Proof the BCS Should Be Abandoned

Posted in Sports by Stephen on the November 29th, 2007

I have always said that the BCS is horrible and should be done away with, and a playoff system should be instituted based on wins just like the NFL. With this new system, a new schedule format should be made to ensure balanced schedules for everyone.

The proof here, is that all season long, Kansas never made it to #1 while being undefeated, which was up until last week. Hawaii hasn’t made it past #12 while being undefeated and starting ranked at #24, but two unranked teams have risen all the way to the #2 spot. Right now if the BCS were to be the best system, Hawaii would be ranked #1 and Kansas #2, and provided that they both win this coming week, they should be playing one another for the championship. However, neither team has a chance at even getting to the championship game.

Hopefully after this season, some major revamping will be done to the system to account for the wrongs committed against these two teams. I doubt that will happen though, because when the president of the BCS was asked for his comment on the situation, all he would say is that it was all very surprising. So I guess we shouldn’t get our hopes up, he doesn’t seemed too concerned about the situation.

21 At Last

I haven’t been writing too much lately, but so far it seems that its not affecting anyone too badly seeing as how my reader base is very small anyways. I haven’t been spending much time on the computer lately anyways.

On to the good news though, and I do have some good news too. I turned 21 on the 21rst, yes I did party, no I didn’t throw up. So I figure thats a good accomplishment, either that or I didn’t have enough fun considering it was my 21rst birthday. I’ll leave that for everyone else to decide, but I had fun.

Now for part 2 of the good news. Starting in the spring semester, I will be headed back to college. I never dreamed I would be doing this, but apparently once I figured out I could do, I got pretty excited about it. I will be getting my bachelors degree in psychology. I know thats a pretty scary thought, me being a psychologist. My family was thrilled, but jokingly said that I would end up getting killed, and my tombstone would read, “Here lies Stephen, he didn’t know when to keep his mouth shut”. Ahh, it is fun analyzing people, but its a lot better when you get to run your mouth about it.

When I think about it, the possibilities of what I could do with such a degree are endless. That means this is going to be a very rewarding career, because I can do just about what I want, have fun at what I’m doing, and of course the money is great too. Money is a good thing, its the driving force of all things. Most people pick their jobs based on money, however, I’m not like that, much. I choose what I do based on 3 key things, will I enjoy it, how long can I enjoy doing it, and does it pay good money. In that order of importance, I can pick and choose from there, and really it makes finding a career a lot harder. You could pay me millions, but if I didn’t like what I was doing, I wouldn’t do it. So I’m not completely greedy, but then again maybe I am. Just not monetarily greedy.

Well, everyone have a happy thanksgiving, don’t do anything stupid. I probably will……………

Relocation

Posted in Life In General by Stephen on the November 5th, 2007

Well it has been quite a while since I’ve been on here. I moved out of my apartment back on the 23rd of October and moved back to my home town of Riesel, where there is no high speed internet. With the internet being so slow and me being so active with other things, the blog has pretty much been put on the back burner, but things are starting to settle now, so I’ll resume posting shortly.

In my personal life these days, I just recently switched jobs where I work. I no longer work in the tire shop for Sam’s Club, I now work in marketing as a business rep. While bowling in my league last Friday night, I managed a 187, which is my best score yet, so I was pretty proud of that. I’ve also started on a new book, and some of the material will be available to some people for feedback soon. So I look forward to that.
We celebrated my cousin’s 21rst birthday last night. We went out to eat and then to a dance club, and I don’t think I’ve danced that much in one night in a good while. We all had a lot of fun, so things turned out well. Only 16 days until my 21rst birthday, and I guarantee we’re going to have a great night on the town.

Things are starting to heat up in the political spectrum, so you can be sure that my next post will have something pertaining to politics. I look forward to writing up something good for everyone to read.

Till next time………….
