Luckily the mayor of the town has spoken out against the rioting, stating that this incident should not be used to justify this sort of violence and disorder. After firing teargas and using other measures, the rioters would not disperse and the riot police then went into the crowds and arrested 15 people. Since the shooting, the officer has resigned and has gotten a lawyer. I believe homicide charges are pending after an investigation of the shooting. It was very apparent that this officer purposely pulled his side arm and shot an un-armed man being held on the ground in the back. I would hope this officer is arraigned on murder charges and not manslaughter charges. The other officers should also be investigated for their roles in the incident to ensure that they followed proper procedure as well.
