There’s idiots in all circles
This is a conversation I had today with a fellow marijuana activist that has been spouting off a lot of unsubstantiated claims about several leaders in NORML. Me being the open minded person I am, took the time and effort to try and understand what this guy was talking about and if his claims had any merit. I came away from this conversation with a pretty good idea in mind about these two people. I’ll let you make up your own minds about them.

Having Stroup talk about black market cannabis in Mass recently, was akin to me talking about rocket science. Please. Any stoner or med patient joining Norml is akin to an african american joining the ku klux klan.
Stephen Carter
I’m apart of NORML and I’ve been sitting here watching you rant ever since we became friends here on fb. I even asked you at one point about them but never got a response.
You’re saying all of this but I’ve seen nothing supporting your statements. Perhaps you could elaborate?
Joseph R. Pietri
Are you kidding you haev’t seen articles posted?
You haven’t seen statements by Martinez or Stroup? Are you blind follower?
If your a part of Norml then your a prohibitionist. This is a free da weed for real page.
Stephen Carter
If you can’t answer my question then I guess I have my answer.
I’d feel like I’d be wasting my time if I had to ask you a third time to show me your evidence.
Joseph R. Pietri
you haven’t seen articles on my face page?
Stephen Carter
I haven’t seen any articles, that’s why I’m asking you for them.

Keith Stroup as Quoted on Mike Cann’s page: “Marijuana use is not a harmless substance.”

Madeline from NORML says: ”
“She added that she would like to see the state of Oregon itself become the primary supplier. “They could grow it in state prisons,” she said, without cracking a smile. “The best growers are already in there.”…

To be honest I don’t have time to pour through your profile and try to find the relevant information for which your speaking. That’s why I’m asking you to provide me with the links.
Patricia Webber
scroll up one, it’s there! that’s the problem, no one has the time to research, they take everyone’s word for the gospel….and that my friend, is going to lead to the destruction for all of us! GUARANTEED!
Stephen Carter
Marijuana isn’t a harmless substance and to say otherwise would be a lie. That’s not to say its dangerous, but its certainly not harmless.
Patricia Webber
Madeline Says: “It just created a culture of gangsters and murderers. And now it’s happening again. I say we take marijuana away from the Mexican mob.” Is it any wonder they are calling her a race traitor? Not to mention she is demonizing the peaceful cannabis culture with words like murderer and gangster.

I do plenty of research on my own, but everyone needs help getting information. Its not about taking other people’s word about things, its about listening to what they have to say and then making your own decision.

Hopefully these links will inspire you to expand on your research..keep digging there’s lot’s there…

“Prohibition didn’t work the first time around,” said Madeline Martinez, 58, a former prison warden, who runs the cafe. “It just created a culture of gangsters and murderers. And now it’s happening again. I say we take marijuana away from the Mexican mob.”
Try grabbing the whole quote the next time if you’re going to attack someone. I agree with this quote fully.
She added that she would like to see the state of Oregon itself become the primary supplier. “They could grow it in state prisons,” she said, without cracking a smile. “The best growers are already in there.”
That I don’t agree with, but its her opinion and she’s entitled to it. I don’t necessarily see anything wrong with making inmates productive, but I wouldn’t put them in charge of growing and maintaining a drug.
So far I haven’t seen anything to label these people the bad boogeymen you are making them out to be. Do you have anything else?
Patricia Webber
try grabbing your own quote and doing your own research next time lazy ass, I’m not your little bitch….LOL, some people like Stephen Carter are just plain stupid Joe, they cannot be helped…there mind is completely closed off and uncapable of free or independant though, let alone critical thinking…
Stephen Carter
So I refute everything you said, ask you for more evidence of YOUR claim, not mine, and you insult me.
If anything you’re saying is true, you’re not going to inform anyone of it going about it that way.
Patricia Webber
not only is he part of NORML, he’s an emeroid….totally mind f*cked
Stephen Carter, seriously, you are an insult to my intelligence, I refuse to waste anymore time on you, seek your own education…elsewhere, I have others that want help, you on the other hand are just hell bent on arguing for five min. of fame, go away, I’ve got work to do.
Stephen Carter
Haha, well let me know if you come up with anything solid to back up your claims. It seems you’re only interested in making claims and then not bringing any supporting evidence to the table.
You also intentionally misquote someone, then when you’re called out on it, you ignore it and proceed to insult the person that has refuted your claim. You’ve actually not responded to a single thing I’ve refuted, you’ve only resorted to insults and misrepresentations.
Then you call me lazy because I won’t go find the evidence for a claim that you’re making. The burden of proof is on you.
- At this point I have been de-friended from this person for simply asking for evidence of their claims. Here’s the guy’s facebook page if anyone is interested in knowing who this idiot is. It just goes to show, there’s idiots traveling in every circle out there, so don’t judge an entire group based on the stupidity of a few people’s words and actions.
I would also like to ask my fellow marijuana activists out there what their take is on this subject. Is there something in particular we should know about our various leaders, namely Keith Stroup?

Learn About Progressive Libertarianism
Keith Stroup has done more to advance legalization in the USA than 99.9999999999% of humanity. Including the human waste you’re engaging in this conversation with. So who really cares what some hecklers who aren’t doing anything but sitting around and throwing mud at _real_ activists think?
I know that I sure don’t.
Well….I’ve taken a long, hard look at it from as many perspectives as I’ve been able to talk to, and my summary is this:
There are three main groups, all professing to want to see cannabis re-legalized.
1) The farmers & industrial hemp crowd.
2) The medical users.
3) The casual, occasional or “recreational” users. *
*I lump the religious (sacramental) users and the “civil libertarians” in with group 3, mainly for ease of argument.
Each group attacks the other two groups, as neither of the other two groups care about their perspective.
Each “third” fights the remaining “two thirds” and wonders why they’re not succeeding.
Each “third” KNOWS that their position is the ONLY valid perspective on the issue.
Each “third” actually IS 100% correct in what they say, the vast majority of the time…if only they took a few minutes to realize that they’re still fighting TWO THIRDS, and they’re NOT going to win against those odds. EVER!
I’ve put it in more detail at http://Overgrow.ning.com (feel free to poke about the site!) but the plain and simple truth is that as long as all of the people who PROFESS to wish to see cannabis re-legalized, as long as they honestly believe that “their Cannabis Sativa L.” is different than “the other guy’s Cannabis Sativa L.”, then, to be blunt, it’s no damned wonder that they’re not getting anywhere.
Question: After 80 years of this single-minded, egocentric “I’m right you’re wrong” mentality NOT WORKING AT ALL, why is it that nothing changes?
If it’s true that you’re all right–AND IT IS–then how does fighting against the other 2/3 of the people who want the EXACT SAME THING as you, in any way benefit the greater cause?
But hey…that’s just my “CrAzY” way of looking at things…
If you want to see it taxed, you do NOT want to see it legalized. You want to MAKE MONEY from it, and if you’ll pardon my brevity, you’re a goddamned hypocrite and deserve to be staked over a fire ant mound in the desert and have your balls doused with a gallon of honey. Maybe a few shakes of pure maple syrup for good measure.
If you want to see it “decriminalized” then you’re not only no better than the ant-fodder above, but you OBVIOUSLY don’t understand that “decriminalization” is little more than saying “OK, we’re not going to put you in prison…but you still need to pay this fine…and we can change our minds any time we bloody well decide that it’s time to put you in prison.”
If you want to see it removed from the US and Canada’s schoolyards, taken out of the hands of criminals, regulated for commercial distribution, and LEFT ALONE in yourt own backyard if you’re growing a few plants for your own personal use…you DO want to see it legal.
Simple rule of thought, here: IF IT IS NOT LEGAL, IT IS NOT LEGAL.
How dofficult is it for these people who’ve allegedly been working at this for DECADES to understand this? Either these people are incredibly stupid, or their stated aims are NOT for true, full re-legalization of cannabis/hemp for ALL farmers and ALL medical users and ALL responsible adults.
That actually IS my goal.
OVERGROW THE WORLD!!!
